Hoping to find an 1820m dock

Hello everyone! I haven't posted here since 2006 I believe. This forum was integral in getting me up and running when I first bought my 1212m :) So, this is a shot in the dark, I know, but I'm looking for something as a short term fix for my current studio setup while I am also gradually standing up...

Re: Worthwhile upgrade from a v.1 1212m to 1820m?

The firewire chips on Dell computers are usually not from Texas Instruments -- which seem to be the only reasonably reliable chip choice for firewire... Dell machines oftentimes have VIA firewire chips, which are pretty much known as firewire chips to avoid (as far as running firewire audio interfa...

Re: Worthwhile upgrade from a v.1 1212m to 1820m?

Haha yeah, I figured you'd all say that! Oh well! I just really don't want to switch to a Firewire interface if I can help it, for a couple reasons. 1. My computer doesn't have a firewire port (other than the 1212m's one) and I hate the idea of disconnecting everything and starting over. 2. I just w...

Worthwhile upgrade from a v.1 1212m to 1820m?

All, I have an original (v.1) 1212m interface and have been thinking about upgrading to something else in order to have easier access to things (so inconvenient having my analog i/o inputs on my computer under my desk!), and to get more inputs and outputs. I've been looking at a variety of interface...

Re: Using Patchmix to integrate hardware compressors, etc?

Okay, guys, so I figured out a way to do this relatively painlessly. Because of the one output limitation of the daughter card for the 1212m, as Aaron pointed out, I had to use some sort of splitter. Since I have the Samson C-Control, I figured I could use that. I have my monitors coming out of the ...

Re: Using Patchmix to integrate hardware compressors, etc?

Hey there, thanks for the response! I was looking for your DBX 164, and can't find what sort of connections it does have. What you describe as "RCA", is that by chance an S/PDIF I/O connection? If so, you can use your 1212M's S/PDIF connectors with a couple of 75ohm co-ax cables, and then use a Send...

Re: Using Patchmix to integrate hardware compressors, etc?

Hi Aaron,
Oh, so you're saying I would use my tracking software (Nuendo/Cubase/etc) to do this? In addition to setting in up in Patchmix as I described, or instead of?

Thanks!
Pat

Using Patchmix to integrate hardware compressors, etc?

Hello everyone, I use the EMU 1212m as the core of my system. I've always treated Patchmix as a set-it-and-forget-it monitoring virtual mixer, and tried not to think about it too much because thinking about it too much gave me a headache :) It's done what I've needed it to, and has enabled me to mak...
