Yeah, that's it... I remember there was an issue with some audigy's eeprom being overwritten, I wonder if the same applies to e-dsp cards. if you have the patience: http://www.driverheaven.net/audio-gener ... y-bug.html the ressemblance: Quote: The problem centers around people not being able to install the Creative update or the Creative XP-CD. The installer reports : "Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster card on your system. Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program." When you have experienced this, your card 'may' have become defective (more on this later)(...) Quote: The R132 resistor Someone found out that some of the replacement Audigy's sent by Creative have 1 component more on the card, which may explain why some cards work and others become defective again. To identify the working revision, hold the Audigy card face up, with the backplane to the left and the PCI slot pins to the bottom. At the lower right-hand corner of the Audigy board are four capactors in a group standing straight up to a height of about 1/2 an inch off the PCB. These are numbered on the PCB as C154, C160, C166 and C177. Now immediately above this grouping is a very small capacitor numbered C172. On the working Audigy's in the space on the PCB immediately to the left of this is a small black square approximately 1/8" square standing a similar height off the PCB. On the non-working Audigy's, this component is not present. |

Hi, I'm new to this site and stumbled across it whilst looking for an answer regarding my EMU 0404. Basically its the same problem as you guys, I have tried the virgin install of the 0404 many times now but to no avail. I get the same messages regarding there not being a 'supported product' on the system, however the system recognises it as a 'Multimedia Audio Controller." I have updated my bios to the newest drivers as well as downloading the newest 0404 drivers. I have also disabled the onboard stuff. I have a feeling it is something to do with ASUS motherboards and their compatability. Basically, my question is whether anyone has had a successful work around of this problem? Many thanks, Paul. My specs are: Intel Qual Core Q6600 4GB RAM NVIDIA GEforce 8500GT Windows XP Pro SP2 |

If there is an IRQ conflict, the install program may not be able to identify the card. The same can happen if the card is damaged. With the card inserted in a PCI slot, consult the site's FAQs Section and use the Q/A #6 & #13 items to get your IRQ table and post back with that. Also, include your computer make/model and/or motherboard/cpu combination, along with the installed ram, video card, hard & optical drive(s) configuration, and another attached peripherals... |

Jmail... thanks for answering... Here is some screenshots of what I am getting, and some info on my specs: ![]() I use a NVIDIA GEforce 8500GT video card, and have 3 hard drives configured for OS/PRODUCTION/Music + samples My motherboard is a ASUS P5N-E SLI, and the computer was custom built. Many thanks. |

The board only has 2 PCI slots, which may make life with an 0404 difficult. Then again, you might be able to get it to work. If you don't have any driver installed at all, then with the computer shut-down, remove the 0404 from the computer. If there is a driver installed, remove it (un-install). You might also open the Hardware Manager and "un-install" that "Creative Audigy". Boot into Windows without the 0404 in a slot. That should clear the Windows' registry. Since the Windows stuff now says "Creative Audigy...", and there isn't an IRQ assigned for a WDM Audio Device (or something of that nature) in the IRQ list, then the computer identified your 0404 as an Audigy. That can happen if you don't cancel the "New Hardware Found..." wizard after you've inserted the 0404, or if you install Windows with the EMU card inserted in the slot, or if the card is damaged. After you've re-booted into Windows without the card, shut-down and re-insert the 0404, only this time, put it in the #2 PCI slot instead of the #1. Leave the case open for that "just-in-case" scenario. Boot-up into Windows and cancel the "New Hardware Found..." wizard. (If one doesn't come up, then Windows has once again identified the card as a Creative Audigy, which isn't good, and you'll get nowhere. Post back if that happens.) Install the EMU drivers from the EMU Download Site. Run the IRQ table again, and see what you have. Post back with that IRQ table. |
