Post Recording internet radio using 0404 & wavelab lite
Please be patient I'm completely new to soundcards that aren't just plug n play.
Have installed the 0404PCI card & have managed to use wavelab lite to record from a physical input (a tape player), but cannot work out how to record from internet radio via the soundcard into wavelab lite. With the previous (idiot proof but not very good) sound card I would have used audacity & selected stereo mix as the input - from what I have read I don't think audacity is likely to work with the 0404 because it's not ASIO (?) and I can only have 1 wave input & output (is that right?). Currently audacity will not recognise any input despite telling it to use the 0404 for input.
Is it possible to input the sound from the internet radio into the mixer & output it to wavelab lite or do I need to physically take the sound out via line-out & feed it back via line-in?

I have tried to follow the instructions in the manual to set up a new mixer strip but in the insert send box the wave option is always greyed out- so I can't get past this point.

I'd appreciate any ideas of what i should try next.

Let's see, I 've used audacity with the 0404 pci, but not for recording. In wavelab (I don't use this either) you'll need to set the inputs as aux1/2 then in patchmix turn aux sends up on the wave strip, and master inserts. I can do this in Reaper by choosing aux1/2 as inputs. Then hit record and anything going thru the Wave strip in patchmix is recorded. This is using the default patchmix setup.

Hope this helps and doesn't confuse more.

Thanks for the reply. Would this be for recording directly from the internet or would this be for sending the sound out & then back in through leads?
Do you mean opening the insert in the 1st strip which is wave input & putting in a send to aux 1/2? Not sure I've found anywhere in wavelab lite to select any input other than just the sound card.

Here's a screen shot.

This is not adding any sends to anything, the internet source is played back thru Wave strip, the aux sends on the strip and master are routed to Reaper (multi-track Software I use) then recorded in asio. I have to instruct Reaper to use the aux inputs in prefrences, like I said not sure about Wavelab, Maybe Mac or someone will have a little more knowledge on Wavelab for you.

Sorry, don't use Wavelab here.

But what you have already been told should work, works in Audacity, if it doesn't work in Wavelab, suspect an internal setting in the Wavelab program.

And you won't really get better audio recording from internet stream than you got from the internal soundcard. That's because the whole shebang stays in the digital domain anyway when recording in this fashion, there are no converters in use until playback thru speakers. The timing may be a skosh better using the 0404, though.

Thanks for the replies' it makes a bit more sense now (I think) - so I just turn up the level of the aux sends on the strip & master & that should route through audacity/wavelab -if I find the right place to select aux input in the program.

It works :D - turning up the aux send levels gets the sound through to wavelab. Thanks for your help
